Jhovver & Rina win 3rd place in debut

These two students approached me late August and asked “do you think we have enough time to create a Salsa routine and compete before World Salsa Solo in the first weekend of December?”

I said “for sure, we can do that!”

“Oh,” they added, “he’ll also be away for 5 weeks in September/October”

Yikes! It was definitely a tall order especially considering they’d never competed before, and if it was any other couple, I would say it couldn’t have been done. But with the work ethic of Jhovver Duarte & Rina Tanaka, not only did they manage to do it but they also placed 3rd too!

It was such a pleasure to coach these two. We probably only managed 8 or 9 lessons all up, but they made every single one count. I would throw every bit of feedback and expertise I could in one hour at them, and next lesson they would return with it almost perfected.

So a big congratulations to Jhovver & Rina on all your hard work, a fantastic result and on how much you improved!
