Elite Latin Dance Co. announced a temporary break from evening group classes as Studio Director Kristi Hall prepared to begin maternity leave.
The announcement marked a significant moment for the studio. Elite had been running its Gold Coast dance classes since opening in February 2022, and we were enormously grateful to the students who had learned, trained, performed and socialised with us during those first years.
Why group classes paused
With Kristi eight months pregnant at the time and preparing to start maternity leave, we made the decision to pause the evening group timetable rather than try to force the existing schedule through a major family transition.
The intention was to give Kristi, Nick and Liana time to adjust to their new normal before reassessing how group classes should fit into the next chapter of Elite Latin Dance Co.
Private lessons and the dance community continued
Although regular evening classes paused, Elite remained available for private dance lessons by appointment. We also continued supporting our dancers and the wider community through socials, performances and competitions.
Private coaching provided a flexible way for students to continue working on Salsa, Bachata and individual dance goals without relying on the fixed schedule of a group-class timetable.
Part of Elite’s studio history
This announcement is retained because it documents an important transition in the history of Elite Latin Dance Co. It should be read in its original 2024 context rather than as a statement of the studio’s current timetable.
